Maine Summer 2022 Photo Diary

I wanted to share a photo diary from our recent trip to Maine. I love Maine and this was our fourth time traveling there. The first time was just Tony and I, and the next two times we went with Tony's family for two family trips and stayed outside both Kennebunkport and York. I have a southern Maine travel guide posted already, so this post is mostly photo diary with some recommendations for different areas thrown in. We stayed at this lovely beach house in Saco Bay. It was about 20 minutes to Kennebunkport, half an hour or so to Portland, and almost an hour to York. It was a really great home base, we had an ocean view, and the community has its own lovely little beach and restaurant. I loved it! If you know me, you know one of my favorite things is watching the sunrise on a trip. I naturally wake up early for it. On our other trips, we had to drive to a beach to watch the sunrise, and let me tell you, it is an early morning! This time, I just had to roll our of bed, make my way onto our balcony, and have a front row seat. Needless to say, I watched it every single day. We had really amazing weather, and was treated to a great sunrise every day.

Kennebunkport

Our first full day in Maine was schedule to be a little rainy in the afternoon, so I figured it was the perfect day to go into Kennebunkport with its stores and restaurants. We had breakfast at this awesome spot, Mike's All Day Breakfast. We sat on the deck and the Eggs Benedict was amazing. We spent the morning shopping, getting ice cream at one of my favorite ice cream places ever, Rococco's, and we tried some mead at Honey Maker Mead Room. It was great to check the town out again and it was close to Saco Bay, which was convenient.

Portland

We spent a day in Portland. I really only have pictures from Cape Elizabeth, but I will also list the breweries and restaurants we went to afterward, because they were wonderful. I hadn't been into the city in years, since or first time in Maine, so that was a lot of fun. We had to show everyone Cape Elizabeth, the Portland Headlight, and to get Lobster Rolls at Bite Into Maine in the park. Just as delicious as I remember.

York and Cape Neddick

We took my parents into York for the day. I love this little beach town, and the Nubble Light and Cape Neddick is my favorite lighthouse in the area. I love climbing around on the rocks getting different views of this beautiful place. After Cape Neddick we went into town and did some shopping, had lunch at the Goldenrod Kisses, an adorable restaurant right on the main street that also has a candy counter and an old fashioned soda bar. We had a drink at York Beach Brewing Company and headed home. I love York, it is the pefect beach town, with kids walking around barefoot from the beach eating ice cream, aan ocean breeze, and lots of saltwater taffy shops.

We had the best time with family, lots of game playing on the balcony, beach days in the freezing cold water that honestly felt amazing because it was SO hot, and beach walks finding shells. It was so wonderful sharing one of my favorite places with family.
