Velvet in the Snow

It has been an interesting week to say the least! This past Monday of course was Veterans' Day, so I had the day off, as did Tony. I had made a doctor's appointment that I have had to reschedule three times (#teacher problems). However, we ended up having quite a bit of snow! It started snowing on our way, and by the time we got home, and during the overnight, we had gotten almost a foot of snow! we are definitely not newbies to snow, but this early in the season is a bit unusual. It was just Halloween!

So the next morning, I woke up and was watching the news for school closings. A few schools closed, but not too many, but the roads were not fantastic for a few days. The upside though is that we have some beautiful snow! I have long been a fan of letting Thanksgiving have its moment, and not rushing Christmas. This year though, both for instagram and blogging, I was wondering, when is too soon to start shooting and posting Christmas themed posts? Well, today we woke up to a beautiful snowy morning, but not cold, I actually walked around without a coat, just this outfit! So, Tony made pancakes and coffee and we headed out to take a snowy walk in the woods.

I love Thanksgiving, but I am so excited and anxious for the Christmas season! We have a full week of school this week, and then a short week next week for Thanksgiving. I cannot wait. We always decorate after Thanksgiving, usually the day after, so that everything is all decorated for when Tony and I host a Friendsgiving. I love decorating for Christmas so much, the first year we decorated in our house was pure magic.

My inspiration for this post was for decorating, but before we have our tree in the house. It was such a beautiful snowy morning, I figured why not bring a few ornaments into the woods and pretend to decorate a tree! Without going totally overboard for a "holiday" outfit, I decided to mix plaid and velvet.

I love this emerald velvet tank top. It is Jcrew, but I got it secondhand. I was very into velvet last season, but never found anything that I absolutely loved enough to buy, but this is a great find, and I am glad to see that velvet stuck around for this season.
Here's a super similar one from Express, and it's on sale!

My plaid wrap is so comfortable, has beautiful colors, and is still one of my favorite things to wear this time of year. It is old from Old Navy. The colors in the one from this season are really pretty

I got these tassel earrings to match a dress that I wore to my high school reunion. They are SugarFix from Target, and I think they are so beautiful!

I think any of the SugarFix line would make great gifts, at great price points! Perfect for Holiday outfits.

I hope everyone has a great week!
